Thanks to the DC (E.C.!) and NYC (Alex SOL! MALO! Marshall!) crew who came through for the first NYC edition of Dirty Soul with me and DJ SABO at the wonderful new Botanica in Red Hook last night.
By summertime 2009 this party will a sure-fire winner, with Botanica's open-air lounge upstairs, brick basement dancehall downstairs, and what .... with Red Hook being THE summer hangout of choice, plus the spanking new FREE ferry to and from lower Manhattan ..... hoooooo boy.
Much love = DJ GOLD
MALO!

Renovations have begun at The Fridge!
So, although I am super pissed at Washington gASS because it has taken them two weeks to come turn my heat on (and they still aren't coming until next Monday), renovations at The Fridge are beginning to wind up.
I am really pleased that I chose to work with Mick Mier, a friend for whom I have done graphic design work in the past, because he and his associate Matt Shannon Browne are ON POINT!
I am also pleased to announce that I have hired the first employee for The Fridge, Brigador Stamback as Associate Gallery Director.
Thanks so much to everyone for your support, amazingly kind words and emails, and generous offers to volunteer. There will be opportunities after the new year, once I get over the hump with the renovation.

[DC] DJ Alex Gold at AFI this Saturday / FREE PASSES INSIDE!
I'm spinning at the closing night party for the European Film Festival this Saturday night at the AFI Silver Theatre.
I have 2 extra free passes for the closing screening and the after party, at which I am spinning for 3 hours or so. The first 2 people to email me at alex [at] thefridgedc [dot] com can have them (but only if you PROMISE to use them)!!!
This is the film that is showing:
ELDORADO
Belgium's Official Oscar Submission for Best Foreign Language Film
Winner, FIPRESCI Prize, Prix Regards Jeunes and Europa Cinemas Label Award, 2008 Cannes Film Festival
Director Bouli Lanners wrote and stars in this quirky road trip adventure that nimbly maneuvers between absurdist humor and darkly realistic pathos. Yvan is a world-weary vintage car dealer who returns home one night to find his house has been broken into, and the inept intruder is still there, hiding under his bed. The young would-be criminal, Elie, somehow strikes a chord with Yvan, who agrees not only to refrain from calling the police, but to drive the young man to his parents' house--in his '79 Chevy. Thus begins their strange journey through a series of increasingly ridiculous mishaps, until they reach their destination, where things take a melancholy turn.
DIR/SCR Bouli Lanners; PROD Jaques-Henri Bronckart. Belgium/France, 2008, color, 80 min. In French with English subtitles. NOT RATED

Grand Central Station clean up crew ...
Hey if you happen to be in the subway at Grand Central Station tomorrow, keep your eyes out for me. I'll be making your visit a cleaner one, as I serve the community of New York, as a penalty for putting up artwork on boarded up buildings in their fair city.
If my camera works, look for my first ever video blog tomorrow.
